What is an ARXML file?
An ARXML file is the XML format defined by AUTOSAR to describe automotive software architecture — software components, their ports, interfaces and the connections between them. Because the raw XML is verbose and hard to read by hand, EasyARXML turns it into a clear, interactive diagram.
Are my ARXML files uploaded to a server?
No. EasyARXML parses your file entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript. The file never leaves your computer, is never uploaded, and is never stored anywhere. You can confirm this yourself by opening your browser’s Network tab while you load a file — there is no upload request.
Is EasyARXML free to use?
Yes. The online ARXML viewer is completely free — no sign-up, no account and no installation required. Just open the app and drop in a .arxml file.
Which AUTOSAR versions are supported?
EasyARXML reads Classic AUTOSAR 4.x ARXML files (the r4.0 schema), visualizing application and service software components, their P-Ports and R-Ports, compositions, and assembly and delegation connectors.
Do I need to install anything?
No installation and no plugins. EasyARXML runs in any modern web browser on Windows, macOS or Linux. It even works offline once the page has loaded, because all processing happens locally.
Can I export the diagram?
Yes. Once your ARXML is visualized you can auto-arrange the graph and download the diagram as a PDF report to share or archive.
Is there an ARXML extension for VS Code?
Yes. EasyARXML is available as a free VS Code extension: open an .arxml file and the diagram appears beside the XML, following whichever file is active and re-rendering as you edit. Like the web version it parses the file locally — in this case inside the editor itself, so nothing is uploaded and no browser is involved. Search for "EasyARXML" in the Extensions view, or install it from the Visual Studio Marketplace.
Is there a graphical ARXML viewer?
Yes — EasyARXML is a graphical ARXML viewer. Instead of reading raw XML, you get a graphical view of the AUTOSAR architecture: each software component is drawn as a block, its P-Ports and R-Ports are shown on the block, and the connectors between them are drawn as lines you can follow. You can rearrange the graph automatically and export the picture as a PDF.
Is EasyARXML an ARXML GUI or an ARXML editor?
EasyARXML is a GUI for reading ARXML, not an editor. It gives you a graphical user interface to open an .arxml file and explore the architecture visually, but it does not modify the file — your ARXML is only ever read, never written or uploaded. If you need to change the file, keep using your usual AUTOSAR authoring tool and use EasyARXML to review the result.
